Today is ‘World AIDS Day,’ a day when we seek to highlight the need of all those living with AIDS to get access to safe, effective, quality and affordable medicines, including medicines, diagnostics, and other health commodities as well as health care services.

Despite improved access to treatment in several regions of the world, AIDS continues to claim an estimated 2 million lives each year. Around 270,000 of these victims are children.
This year we focus on the theme “Right to health,” which the World Health Organization (WHO) has designed to highlight the need for all 36.7 million people living with HIV and all those who are vulnerable and affected by the epidemic. According to the World Factbook, with 2.1 million, India has the highest number of people living with AIDS. This makes it all the more necessary for all of us to support the cause.
As a responsible healthcare service provider, GoMedii feels that all of us should spend some time for all those who are directly or indirectly affected by the disease. GoMedii stands by WHO’s slogan, “Everybody counts”, and advocates the access to safe, effective, quality and affordable medicines, diagnostics and other health commodities for all people who are in need of our support.
Here are some practical ways to support World AIDS Day in your workplace, business or community:
- Spread the awareness in your neighborhood and community through printed posters
- Use social media posts to highlight India’s fight against this dreaded disease
- Spread awareness about the AIDS Care and Support Centers in India (complete list of these centers is available in the NACO website http://naco.gov.in)
- Spread awareness about Anti-retroviral therapy (ART)
Let’s do our bit to create a safe and healthy society!
